Nature Trails Around Netanya Poleg Wetland

Liora Ben Ari reveals why Netanya is perfect for walkers. where real estate, sea views, and nature trails escapes meet

Let’s face it—when you live in Netanya, nature isn’t just a weekend luxury. It’s your daily backdrop. This vibrant coastal city is more than stunning real estate and golden beaches; it’s a playground for nature lovers, walkers, and anyone in need of a good, soul-filling view.

So lace up your sneakers (or don’t—some of these are flip-flop friendly), and let’s explore 5 gorgeous walking spots, all within 10 minutes of Netanya’s heartbeat.

The Netanya Cliff Promenade

It’s iconic for a reason. Stretching along an 8-kilometer kurkar (limestone) cliff, this isn’t just a path—it’s a panoramic theater of the Mediterranean.

With multiple themed sections, scenic lookout points, art sculptures, fitness stops, shady benches, playgrounds, and even an elevator down to the beach—this is a walk you can tailor to your mood.

Sunset chasers, early risers, romantic strollers—everyone finds their moment here.

Winter Lake Park (Agamon HaHoref)

Once a giant puddle with potential, now a sparkling wetland sanctuary!

In winter, the lake fills and becomes a paradise for migratory birds. Come spring? It’s all golden daisies and green tranquility.

The park features a picnic area, wooden play structures, wide sand pits, and even a scenic bridge overlooking Poleg Beach and the Iris Reserve. It’s urban nature done right with great Nature Trails.

Poleg Wetland (Agamon Poleg)

Just five minutes from town, this sweet little lake sits where an old quarry once was. Today, it’s a serene birdwatching spot complete with shaded trails and blackberry bushes in season.

The 900-meter walking loop takes about 30 minutes, with two stunning viewpoints: one over the kurkar (limestone) cliff and another over the water basin.

The water’s off-limits, but the vibes are very much on.

Ilanot Forest – A Global Tree Tour

Ten minutes from Netanya. Yes, only 10 minutes and you’re suddenly globe – trotting through 750 species of trees from all over the world.

Ilanot is Israel’s only botanical forest. It’s packed with exotic beauties that look like they belong in a movie set.

It’s quiet, it’s shady. It even has an interactive visitor center –  if you’re in a geeky mood. Tree-huggers and curious souls—this one’s for you.

Alexander Stream & the Turtle Bridge

Flowing just outside Netanya through Emek Hefer. This river trail is one of Israel’s hidden gems.

Along the way you’ll meet soft-shell turtles. yes, actual turtles!  wildflowers, lush riverbank greenery, and ancient ruins.

End the walk at the sea where the river meets the Mediterranean. Then you’ll understand why locals swear by this route year-round.

Whether you’re looking to escape the hustle or simply want to enjoy the magic of where sea, sand, and greenery meet. Netanya’s nature game is strong.

If you’re thinking of making this lifestyle your everyday, you already know who to call. Liora Ben Ari – Where real estate meets real nature.
